So what about Drone Racing? Up to now, only in video games and movies could most people experience a bird’s-eye view or race through obstacles at breakneck speeds. Thanks to First Person View (FPV) quadcopters and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), anyone with enough flying skill to manoeuvre a drone is able to experience the thrill of FPV racing.
This innovative and rapidly growing sport is becoming increasingly commercialised on a global scale and Drone Racing Africa intends to become the continent’s pre-eminent FPV racing series brand. Meet the Team
About Drone Racing Africa
Drone Racing Africa (DRA) is a drone racing league in which drone racing pilots fly high-speed drones at iconic locations around the continent. To accomplish this the DRA is creating the market through establishing a league targeting grassroots racers through to professionals.
About DRA Drones
The DRA drones range from entry level quadcopters through to custom designed drones built by DRA engineers to exacting standards of speed, performance, and endurance, and optimized for drone racing.
About DRA Drone Races
A DRA drone race is scored based on a combination of completion time and checkpoints.
About DRA Pilots
Our racers will range from young kids to adults competing in the Open and Elite categories. The top Elite pilots in SA will stand the chance to compete at the Drone Racing World Championships.
What is First Person View?
First Person View (FPV) is when pilots wear goggles that display a real-time video feed from an on-board camera.
